Bacon Chicken Ranch Recipe Instant Pot Video

Ingredients 8 ounces nitrate-free bacon, diced ½ yellow onion, diced 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes ½ teaspoon fine sea salt ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper 2 tablespoons salted butter or ghee 2 teaspoons dried parsley 1 teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon dried minced onion ½ cup Ranch Dressing, plus a couple tablespoons for drizzling Steps Preheat an electric pressure cooker using the SAUTÉ button, press the ADJUST button until it reads HOT, add the bacon and diced onion to the pot. Cook, stirring, until the bacon is crispy, about 10 minutes. If it begins to stick to the bottom of the pot, add 1 tablespoon of the butter, Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon and onion to a paper towel. Leave all those delicious juices in the pot. Season the cubed chicken breasts with the sea salt and black pepper. Add the remaining butter to the pot and then the chicken. Cok, stirring the chicken, until it browns on all sides, about 5 minutes. Add the parsley, garlic powder, and dried onion, the stir. Place the lid on the pressure cooker. Make sure the vent valve is in the SEALING position. Using the display panel, press the CANCEL button. Select the MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK function and HIGH PRESSURE. Use the +/- buttons until the display reads 4 minutes.

What’s a Wok?

 

Woks are for stir-frying over a very hot fire for a very short period of time, stir-frys are usually made with fresh vegetables that remain crisp and some type of meat.

 

They were originally created with a very round bottom and were balanced on the coals of a fire.

Thus, leaving both hands free to prepare the food, usually holding a spatula in one hand and chopsticks in the other.    

 

Later, when stoves were made, there was a special place made to hold the wok. A concave metal disk placed on the hearth allowed the flames to reach up and around the sides.

 

The difficulties for Americans using a wok are that the wok was not created for the burners on American stoves.

 

Because the wok is round-bottomed, it is very dangerous and may slide off of the stove. You can purchase round-bottom woks with two metal handles; this allows you to hold it in place with an oven mitt while cooking.

 

The disadvantage is that you must remove the wok before adding additional ingredients; this changes the heat which should remain constant.

 

A ring may be purchased to sit over the top of the burner; however, this raises the wok up off of the flame, which reduces the intensity of the heat.

 

There are three styles available on the market today:

 

*Round-bottomed with two steel handles, (the handles get hot and you will need either an oven mitt or a dishtowel to hold it in place)

 

*Round-bottomed with one wood handle and one steel handle

 

*Flat-bottomed with one wooden and one steel handle (these work best for American stovetops.

 

Even though you can buy woks made with a wide variety of metals, the best woks are made of heavy-gauge steel. Properly maintained this wok will last for a lifetime.

Cast Iron Cookware

Humans have used cast iron for cooking for hundreds if not thousands of years. Because cast iron has the exceptional ability to maintain and diffuse heat, and is easy to mold into various shapes, it is ideal for cookware.

Cast iron requires seasoning because it has the tendency to stain some foods, this is not one of its more desirable traits. Seasoning involves putting a coating of oil, either animal or vegetable, onto the surface of the cast iron.

There are several reasons for seasoning cast iron, that cast iron that is not seasoned stains foods is one of those reasons. It also provides a non-stick surface for cooking and prevents rusting; it is now possible to purchase pre-seasoned cast iron cookware.

Oils used for seasoning are high in saturated fats, as unsaturated fats tend to become sour much faster and are therefore unsuitable for this process.

Cast iron cookware that is not pre-seasoned is shipped with a coating on food quality wax or mineral oil to prevent rust and should be cleaned before seasoning.

New cast iron should be thoroughly cleaned with a mild dish soap and steel wool; if the surface is unpolished you may use a wire brush.

The easiest method for seasoning a pan is to wipe the cleaned pan with oil and use it, over time this will season it naturally. Another method is to heat the pan until water boils when splashed on it.

Wipe a coat of oil on the pan with a rag; turn the pan upside down on foil in a medium-hot oven for 1-2 hours. Let the pan cool, it is now ready for cooking.

Full strength dish soap should never be used for cleaning a seasoned pan; it removes the coating and requires the pan to be re-seasoned.

Mild, much-diluted dish soap may be used occasionally, but many feel the best way to clean a cast-iron pan is to simply wipe it clean. One method of cleaning is to scrub the inside with coarse salt and rub with a towel, rinse with cold water.

Regardless of the means of cleaning, the pan should be completely dry and lightly oiled after cleaning.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Cooking

Now that we have made it through Thanksgiving, let's think about Christmas, now none of that oh, do we have too stuff, of course we have to, Christmas comes every year and this year is no exception!

Even if you enjoy spending hours in the kitchen, there are times during the holidays when it just isn't possible.

There are many ways to make it feasible to still cook for your family and attend all of the seasonal functions that are required of you and your family.

Please don't neglect the basic every night meal that your family needs, there has to be time for this, and it isn't always easy. There are many options that require little preparation time:

*Casseroles:Put them together the night before, or early in the morning

*Crock-pot stews:Let them cook all day.

*Soup and sandwiches:Quick and easy, grilled cheese and soup Salads, from dinner salads to chef salads, pre-cut lettuce is a blessing.

To prepare meals in the shortest amount of time, remember that you can cook more than one item at the same time.

The pudding can be going in the microwave, while the rice and steaks cook on the stove top, followed by sautéed mushroom in the same pan as the steak.

Planning is an important part of any holiday meal, whether it is a special meal or the standard evening dinner!

Something that I have found handy is the soups I make using leftovers; you can create several from your Thanksgiving or Christmas leftovers.

Boil down the turkey bones for a large amount of meat that most people aren't even aware that it is there.

Add the stuffing that is left over, this serves a dual purpose, it adds flavor, but also thickens the soup. Add a few fresh vegetables to the leftover vegetables, and you have a delicious soup that can be thawed and reheated around the holiday season, saving you lots of time.

Creativity can be a blessing in the kitchen as well as out of the kitchen as you make this Christmas a season for everyone to enjoy, even yourself.
